One day, he stumbled upon an advertisement for the Panini Prajna Cultural Academy, a drama institution in Sambalpur. "I convinced my mother and with help from my friends collected Rs 300 and went to Sambalpur," he recalls.
The money was barely enough to pay his hostel rent. He was left with nothing to eat, often going hungry. "I would manage to get food only if somebody from my hostel saw me sitting hungry," he says, describing the profound struggle that defined his early days in the city. To support his training and survive, he took a part-time job at a petrol pump. "I would pay the course fee from that money and save something to buy food," he adds.
The Rise: From Petrol Pump to Primetime

The turning point came when he got an opportunity to participate in the comedy show Comedy Darbar, which aired on a regional channel. His performance was a revelation. He was adjudged the second runner-up, a victory that was far more significant than the prize money. "I owe my success to my acting teacher Atish Kumar Satpathy," he says, crediting the mentor who honed his raw talent.
