Growing Up in Music

Born on 17 October 1991 in Bhubaneswar, Diptirekha Padhi grew up surrounded by music and culture. Her grandmother and father were both talented singers, creating an environment where melody and rhythm were part of everyday life.

Recognizing her exceptional talent early, her family encouraged her musical journey from childhood. She began formal training at the age of seven and quickly displayed a dedication far beyond her years.

She later pursued Odissi music under Guru Pradeep Kumar Das, earning the prestigious title of Odissi Bisarada. Her training continued under Guru Bijaya Nanda Nayak, who refined her understanding of Hindustani classical traditions.

From Television to Music

Before becoming a household name in playback singing, Diptirekha briefly pursued a career in television. She played the lead role of Purvi in the popular ETV Odia serial Raja Kanya.

A crucial turning point came when her uncle introduced her to acclaimed music director Premanand. Impressed by her voice, he offered her the opportunity to record Otha Helani Bhari Chagala from the Odia film Love Dot Com (2009).
